Saturday June 9, 2018 was the 1 year anniversary of naming the Village Trust Financial Cooperative. The Director of the Association for Black Economic Power, Me'Lea Connelly, gave an update about the work on establishing a Credit Union at VTFC to serve the North side of Minneapolis.
The Link Between Equity and Community Engagement: Village Trust Financial Cooperative
On January 24, 2018, Ron Harris spoke at the Nexus Community Engagement Institute Engaged Learning Series at the Rondo Community Library to share his story of impact of the link between equity and community engagement through his work on the Association of Black Economic Power (ABEP). This audio was recorded of his panel segment sharing how the Village Trust Financial Cooperative, a black-owned, black-led credit union, emerged from community engagement as a means to shift wealth and power to the Black community in North Minneapolis, Minnesota.
